ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

MOTIVATION

The Unavailability Workshop began as an outlet for the law community during the COVID-19 lockdown during the Spring of 2020. These days it offers a way to connect with colleagues across the country (and around the world) in a casual setting to discuss cutting issues. The format is emphatically informal.  Dress is casual, and no one is expected to read or prepare material before the workshop.  And if you need to step out because your kids are fighting or because the dog is barking, that’s no problem — many of us are in the same boat.

MODERATORS

The Unavailability Workshop for Evidence is moderated by Ed Cheng (Vanderbilt) and Alex Nunn (Arkansas). The Unavailability Workshop for Civil Procedure is moderated by Suzanna Sherry (Vanderbilt) and Adam Steinman (Alabama).

Each workshop will feature a guest speaker in conversation with the workshop moderators. Audience participation is encouraged.  Guest speakers discuss things such as current controversies surrounding a particular rule, a recent or ongoing case, or ideas for teaching.
